According to reports, Synaptics, a developer of touchpad technology in the US, is in talks with German Dialog Semiconductor on potential M&A deals. Informed sources revealed that the exploratory discussion about the merger is in progress, but it may not be agreed.

Dialog Semiconductor is the exclusive supplier of PMIC modules (power management ICs) for Apple's iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch products. The main charging and Bluetooth low-power technologies are currently valued at US$1.4 billion, and the valuation of Synaptics is currently 1.6 billion U.S. dollars.

Last year, there were reports that Apple planned to develop its own PMIC module. Industry sources said that Apple is setting up two power management chip design centers in Munich and California and said that Apple has about 80 engineers working on its own power management chips. This has caused Dialog Semiconductor's business prospects to suffer.

It is reported that Synaptics is a leader in the industry and provides touch panel OEMs for most major computer and notebook computer companies, including ASUS, Acer, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Sony, Toshiba, and Gateway (English: Gateway, Inc.). , International Business Machines, Lenovo and Samsung Electronics, etc., have more than one billion devices worldwide using the Synaptics interface.

For Dialog, the merger with Synaptics helped it get rid of Apple's reliance on its orders.
