August 24, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Vishay Intertechnology has introduced the Vishay MCB RPWA 650 series of thick film power resistors, delivering 650 W of continuous power in a low-profile package with customizable cabling and an optional embedded NTC temperature sensor.
The RPWA 650 uses a baseplate design that transfers heat to an external heatsink, supporting stable operation across a temperature range of -55 °C to +155 °C. Its high power density can reduce the number of parallel resistors required, lowering component count and space requirements.
The series combines a power resistor and optional NTC temperature sensor in one housing. A self-calibrating pressure mounting design eliminates board-level soldering and simplifies wiring and assembly in power modules.
Resistance values range from 6.2 Ω to 1 MΩ, with tolerances down to ±5%. The devices offer a maximum operating voltage of 6000 VDC, dielectric strength up to 7000 VRMS, and typical self-inductance of no more than 40 nH. They also support repetitive pulse energy up to 3.5 J per pulse for 50 μs pulses.
Target applications include precharge, discharge, active discharge, power conversion, and snubber circuits in automotive, energy, industrial, medical, and avionics systems.
The RoHS-compliant RPWA 650 series is pending AEC-Q200 qualification. Samples and production quantities are available now, with lead times of eight to 12 weeks.
