October 10, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Infineon Technologies has completed its acquisition of Bangalore-based C2i Semiconductor, adding digital power control technology and engineering expertise for AI data centers and high-performance computing systems. Financial terms were not disclosed.
C2i specializes in software-defined multiphase controllers, intelligent power stages and system-level power architectures. Its technology uses digital control and algorithms to adjust power conversion and regulation in real time as processor workloads change.
Power management is becoming increasingly important as AI servers move toward much higher rack and processor power levels. GPUs and AI accelerators can create large and rapidly changing current demands, requiring power systems to combine higher efficiency with faster transient response and tighter voltage regulation.
Infineon plans to combine C2i's digital control and software capabilities with its existing silicon, silicon carbide and gallium nitride power semiconductor portfolio, creating a broader platform spanning power devices, controllers and system-level power management.
The combined teams will also work on vertical power delivery and future substrate-integrated voltage regulator technologies. These architectures move voltage regulation closer to high-power processors, helping reduce distribution losses and support the higher current densities expected from next-generation AI accelerators.
The acquisition also expands Infineon's engineering presence in India. C2i's team will become part of the company's Bangalore operations, which Infineon sees as an important development center for digital power technologies. The company currently employs about 2,800 people in India.
