According to Japanese media reports, the COVID-19 has affected major companies in northeastern Japan. TDK's Tsurugaoka factory in Yamagata Prefecture has closed after it discovered that its employees were infected.

TDK Corporation announced that a 20-year-old male employee of its Tsuruoka Plant has been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19. For safety reasons, the factory has been temporarily suspended from May 5.

According to TDK's public information, the affected factory mainly produces and sells lead-free inductors, ceramic resonators, common mode filters, and coil windings.
