Nanya successfully developed 10nm DRAM technology

Taiwan-based DRAM maker Nanya Technology Corporation (NTC) announced on the 10th that it has completed independent research and development of 10-nanometer DRAM technology and will begin trial production in the second half of this year.

According to reports, NTC's current products are based on 20nm technology, and the technology source is Micron. With the introduction of NTC's self-developed 10-nanometer process, it will no longer rely on Micron's authorization in the future. NTC said that the successfully developed 10nm DRAM production technology will enable NTC's DRAM products to continue to shrink in size in the next three generations. The first generation of 10nm lead products, 8Gb DDR4, LPDDR4 and DDR5, will be built on independent process technology and product technology platforms, and will enter trial production in the second half of 2020.

NTC's second-generation 10-nanometer process technology has begun research and development. It is expected that trial production will be introduced before 2022, and the third-generation 10-nanometer process technology will be developed later.

After NTC enters the 10-nanometer manufacturing process, it will mainly focus on self-developed technology to reduce licensing costs and improve performance.
