July 24, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — KYOCERA AVX has introduced its new DB0402 series of 3dB, 90° hybrid couplers, aimed at enhancing RF performance across high-frequency applications in industrial, automotive, telecom, and telemetry markets. Operating in the 3,000 to 4,100MHz frequency range, these compact couplers support next-gen wireless technologies including 5G, SATCOM, and MIMO antenna systems.

Built on proven multilayer thin-film technology, the DB0402 couplers offer reliable RF signal splitting with excellent amplitude and phase balance, low insertion loss (typ. -0.5dB), and high isolation. Their ultra-compact footprint (0.040" x 0.023" x 0.014") helps save board space, while their nickel terminations enable compatibility with reflow, wave, vapor phase, and manual soldering.

The series includes four models covering center frequencies at 3.2, 3.5, 3.7, and 3.8GHz, all rated at 50Ω impedance and designed to operate from -40°C to +85°C. With 1W continuous power handling, RoHS compliance, and IATF-certified manufacturing, the DB0402 series is supplied in tape-and-reel packaging to support automated assembly.

Target applications include base stations, 4G/5G/6G infrastructure, GPS, RF balanced amplifiers, mobile communication systems, vehicle tracking systems, satellite TV, and other compact high-frequency wireless devices.

“The ongoing growth of millimeter wave, 5G, and high-frequency wireless ecosystems is driving demand for compact and high-performing RF components,” said Mohammed Abu-Naim, RF Product Manager at KYOCERA AVX North America. “Our DB0402 hybrid couplers deliver space-saving, cost-effective performance for today’s most demanding RF designs.”
