April 6, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Izumo Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., has completed a new production building in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. Construction began in March 2024, and the new facility will strengthen Murata’s production system to meet medium- to long-term demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs).

The new facility is a 10-story steel-frame building, covering a total floor area of 69,829 square meters on an 11,012-square-meter site. It will focus on MLCC production, with a total investment of approximately 47 billion yen, including buildings and manufacturing equipment.

By distributing MLCC production bases across Japan, ASEAN, and China, Murata aims to respond flexibly to market changes and growing demand. Construction schedules for other MLCC-related facilities are as follows:

  • Murata Electronics (Thailand) Ltd. – Production building, started July 2021, completed March 2023
  • Iwami Plant (Izumo Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) – Production building, started March 2022, completed April 2023
  • Wuxi Murata Electronics Co., Ltd. – Production building, started November 2022, completed April 2024
  • Fukui Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. – R&D building, started December 2023, expected completion February 2026
  • Murata Electronics (India) Private Limited – Rental factory with packaging and shipping, agreement entered February 2025, full-scale operation expected FY2026

These projects illustrate Murata’s ongoing global expansion in MLCC manufacturing, ensuring flexible supply and the ability to meet growing market demand.
