Vishay launches VOx619A optocouplers with 0.5 mA drive current

March 4, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Vishay Intertechnology has released its VOx619A series of phototransistor optocouplers, designed to keep a stable and linear current transfer ratio (CTR) across temperature while requiring only 0.5 mA of forward current.

The new devices support operation up to +125 °C and come in four package options: DIL-4, long-creepage LSOP-4, compact SOP-4, and half-pitch SSOP-4. Vishay said the lower drive current is about 50% below the previous generation, helping designers reduce power use in end systems.

The optocouplers are aimed at signal isolation in DC/DC converters, programmable logic controllers, and power supplies. Target applications include micro mobility, industrial equipment, energy metering, telecom, and consumer electronics. The low current requirement also makes the parts suitable for microcontrollers and other devices with limited drive capability.

Vishay said the VOx619A series keeps CTR above 75% across its operating temperature range. In many standard optocouplers, CTR can fall to below 50% of the rated value at 25 °C when temperature shifts. The improved linearity helps maintain signal accuracy in systems that need reliable data transfer.

Each device uses an infrared LED optically coupled to a phototransistor. Versions in DIL-4 and LSOP-4 packages offer up to 5000 VRMS isolation with creepage and clearance distances of at least 7 mm and 8 mm. The SOP-4 and SSOP-4 options provide a smaller footprint with 3750 VRMS isolation and at least 5 mm creepage and clearance.

Samples and production volumes of the VOx619A family are available now, with lead times of about eight weeks. The devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and qualified under the Vishay Green program.
