Enhanced mechanical stability for harsh operating conditions

December 12, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — TDK has expanded its B409x series of hybrid polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors with new vibration-resistant variants designed for high-stress automotive and industrial environments. The updated design incorporates four reinforcement posts at the base of the component, allowing the units to withstand mechanical vibration levels of up to 30 g under MIL-STD-202 Method 204.

The series is available in voltage ratings ranging from 25 V to 80 V, with capacitance values between 56 µF and 1100 µF. All variants feature a compact 10 mm diameter and height options from 10.2 mm to 16.8 mm. Depending on the model, the capacitors support operating temperatures up to 125°C or 150°C, making them suitable for power steering modules, cooling systems, DC-DC converters and other semiconductor-adjacent power architectures.

Extended lifetime and thermal performance for power systems

Thanks to the polymer electrolyte, the B409x line maintains low ESR levels of 10 mΩ to 33 mΩ and supports ripple currents of 2.8 A to 5.8 A. The capacitors offer a service life of more than 4000 hours at 125°C under rated conditions, while the industrial-grade B40950 versions achieve over 10,000 hours at 105°C.

TDK also provides its web-based AlCap Tool to help engineers calculate lifetime performance based on specific application requirements, supporting design work across automotive, robotics, GPU modules, e-mobility devices and other industrial systems.
