Nexperia Netherlands calls for immediate dialogue with Nexperia China to resolve supply chain disruptions

November 28, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Nexperia Netherlands publicly called for immediate dialogue with Nexperia China yesterday after multiple attempts to restore communication were unsuccessful. The company highlighted severe supply chain disruptions, particularly in the automotive sector, where ongoing chip shortages have caused production slowdowns and stoppages for several clients.

Nexperia manufactures billions of chips widely used across industries such as automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial equipment. The majority of the company’s wafers are produced in Germany before being sent to Dongguan, China, for packaging and eventual distribution to customers worldwide. However, the ongoing challenges faced by Nexperia’s China operations in maintaining consistent production and delivery have resulted in significant disruptions to the global supply chain, with customers reporting potential production delays due to supply shortages.

Dutch Government Intervention and Chinese Response

On September 30, the Dutch government took control of Nexperia, citing concerns that the company’s former CEO may have attempted to relocate its European operations to China. This move triggered a response from the Chinese side, with China halting the export of finished products from Nexperia on October 4. However, this measure was partially relaxed soon after. Meanwhile, Nexperia’s China subsidiary declared itself independent of European management after being sealed off, and on October 26, Nexperia’s European headquarters halted wafer shipments to China, citing unpaid invoices.

Public Appeal for Dialogue

In its letter, Nexperia emphasized the urgency of restoring communication and cooperation with its China entity to resolve the ongoing supply chain crisis. Despite numerous attempts to reach out via phone calls, emails, and proposed meetings, Nexperia has received no meaningful response. The company underlined that only direct dialogue and collaboration can resolve the current crisis and ensure the smooth continuation of its operations.

“Nexperia remains fully committed to transparency, business continuity, and the interests of its customers, suppliers, and employees worldwide,” the company stated in its open letter. “We urge the leadership of Nexperia’s entities in China to take immediate steps toward constructive negotiations.”

Accelerating Supply Chain Restoration and Corporate Governance Alignment

Nexperia also stressed the importance of restoring predictable supply flows and production planning as a priority. The company called for structured negotiations to address corporate governance alignment and intercompany agreements to allow operations to resume within the established governance framework. Nexperia also expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue via email or through a neutral third-party mediator to facilitate a timely resolution.

While Chinese authorities have committed to facilitating the resumption of exports from Nexperia’s Chinese facilities, customers across various industries continue to report significant production stoppages. Nexperia urged its China entity to take immediate action to resolve the situation.
