Vishay targets high-voltage EV designs with new AEC-Q200 resistor

November 24, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a 30-watt thick-film power resistor designed for high-voltage automotive electronics as demand rises across new energy vehicle platforms. The AEC-Q200-qualified device, packaged in a TO-220 format for direct heatsink mounting, targets engineers building more robust power and safety circuits for next-generation EV systems.

The LTA 30 is engineered for long-term stability in harsh environments, withstanding high humidity, vibration and operating temperatures up to 125 °C. It also supports a 500-volt operating rating and a short-term overload of 1.5 times its nominal power for five seconds, helping maintain electrical stability during transients and high-voltage events.

The resistor is available across a broad range of values — from 0.010 Ω to 450 kΩ — with tolerances down to ±1%. These specifications position it as a precharge or discharge element for on-board chargers, battery management systems and motor controllers in EV, HEV and PHEV architectures. Vishay notes that the component offers a non-inductive structure, a dielectric strength of 1500 Vrms and compliance with RoHS requirements.

Samples and production quantities are now available, with lead times of roughly four to six weeks. For more information, please visit  https://www.vishay.com/en/product/50085/.
