November 14, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Infineon Technologies has introduced the PSOC™ 4 HVPA-SPM 1.0, a high-voltage microcontroller aimed at next-generation Battery Management Systems in electric vehicles. The device reflects rising demand for precise sensing, safety-certified electronics and stronger edge processing as automakers transition to zonal architectures and Software-Defined Vehicles.
The microcontroller integrates high-accuracy current, voltage and temperature monitoring to improve State-of-Charge and State-of-Health calculations. It meets ASIL-D safety requirements and uses an Arm® Cortex®-M0+ processor to offload computing from the central ECU, helping shorten development cycles for EV platforms.
Initial customer evaluations have reportedly shown strong performance results. Infineon said the device enhances both safety and intelligence in high-voltage battery systems, a priority area in the automotive semiconductor market.
In parallel with the hardware launch, Infineon is collaborating with Munich Electrification to offer the “Smart Edge BMS Software.” The package combines Infineon’s semiconductor technology with Munich Electrification’s software expertise to simplify system integration, reduce development costs and support compliance with global EV regulations.
The partnership aligns with Infineon’s Drive Core Strategy, which bundles hardware and software to streamline automotive system development and strengthen the company’s broader EV ecosystem.
Engineering samples of the PSOC 4 HVPA-SPM 1.0 are currently available, with qualified samples expected in the first quarter of 2026. For more information, please visit https://www.infineon.com/products/microcontroller/32-bit-psoc-arm-cortex/psoc-4-hv-m0/hv-pa/spm1-0.
