November 10, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Infineon Technologies has established a dedicated Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Application Lab in Graz, Austria, in collaboration with Silicon Austria Labs (SAL). The facility focuses on advancing UWB technology, testing real-world applications, and supporting automotive, industrial, IoT, and consumer use cases.
UWB enables centimeter-level precision, secure localization, and data exchange, making it suitable for applications including keyless car access, child presence detection in vehicles, indoor navigation for IoT devices, and robotics in industrial environments. Infineon emphasizes that the lab will serve as a hub for international customers, research institutions, and technology partners to accelerate UWB adoption.
The lab complements Infineon’s broader connectivity portfolio, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC, and is equipped with motion-capture systems, autonomous robots, and wireless control platforms to provide reproducible testing environments for both small-scale IoT devices and complete automotive systems.
Infineon’s UWB strategy follows its 2023 acquisition of 3db Access AG and its May 2025 appointment to the board of the FiRa® Consortium. Industry data from Grand View Research projects that the global UWB market will grow from $1.4 billion in 2021 to $4.7 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 18.9%. The Graz lab is expected to strengthen Infineon’s role in delivering secure, high-precision UWB solutions and accelerating commercialization across multiple sectors.
