October 29, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Vishay Intertechnology has released its new SGTPL-28 series of 150 W space-grade planar transformers, optimized for 28 V input forward converters in avionics, military, and space applications. The compact design offers high power density and robust reliability for critical power systems.

The SGTPL-28 transformers meet MIL-PRF-27, INST-EEE-002, and MIL-STD-981 standards, ensuring durability under vibration, shock, and high temperatures up to +130°C. They are suitable for switch-mode power supplies, dual-switch, and active clamp forward converters, providing multiple secondary outputs for flexible voltage configurations.

Featuring a winding design that achieves up to 40% higher fill factor than conventional planar transformers, the series helps reduce PCB space and improve overall efficiency. Vishay’s materials and production approach allow for easier customization and shorter lead times, typically without non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs.

Six screening levels are available, ranging from P-level validation to L-level for low Earth orbit missions, and up to class S per MIL-STD-981 for space-grade applications. Samples and production units are available now.
