August 29, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Diodes Incorporated has introduced its new automotive-grade AL5958Q matrix LED driver, designed to advance dynamic lighting in next-generation vehicles. The device features 48 constant-current channels and supports up to 32 scans, enabling complex lighting effects and high-resolution automotive displays.

The AL5958Q is optimized for narrow pixel mini- and micro-LED applications, allowing animated RGB lighting in central information displays, instrument clusters, head-up displays, body panels, emblem lights, interior ambient lighting, and rear lights.

By integrating advanced matrix display commands, the driver reduces processing demand on microcontrollers. Built-in functions include black-frame insertion to minimize blur, ghost image suppression, open/short LED detection, inrush current control, low-brightness compensation, a grayscale watchdog timer, and sleep mode for energy savings.

The device incorporates 16 N-MOSFET switches and flexible scan control, supporting both static and dynamic lighting systems. Multiple AL5958Q units can be daisy-chained to create large-scale RGB displays with local dimming capability. Its 16-bit dimming resolution and RGB control ensure accurate brightness and color mixing, while multiplex-pulse density modulation (M-PDM) technology improves refresh rates without increasing EMI.

Qualified for automotive standards, the AL5958Q operates from -40°C to +125°C and comes in a wettable W-QFN9090-76/SWP (Type A1) package. A standard AL5958 version is also available for industrial and commercial applications.
