June 24, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Japan’s TDK Corporation has acquired the RF power business of QEI Corporation, a U.S.-based firm specializing in radio-frequency power generators and impedance matching networks for plasma processes in semiconductor manufacturing.

The deal gives TDK direct access to advanced RF power technologies essential for etching and deposition processes, further enhancing its semiconductor equipment portfolio. The company already supplies DC power products widely used in fab environments. The addition of QEI's RF solutions enables TDK to offer an integrated power platform across critical wafer processing applications.

With rising global demand for chips driven by artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, data centers and IoT, the need for precision power solutions has intensified. The acquisition also supports TDK’s broader strategy to scale its presence across the AI ecosystem.

“We are excited to welcome QEI’s RF team to TDK,” said Jeff Boylan, President and CEO of TDK-Lambda Americas. “Combining their flexible RF platform with our proven DC products gives us the tools to compete in the growing $1 billion RF power market for semiconductors. Our global support network will help accelerate market adoption.”

Alex Nazarenko, President of QEI Corporation, thanked the company’s staff for their contributions and expressed optimism for the business under TDK’s ownership.

TDK said the integration will strengthen its solutions for advanced chip manufacturing, particularly in plasma-based processing where precise, stable power is crucial.
