According to Reuters, STMicroelectronics CEO Jean-Marc Chery said customer demand will exceed ST's production capacity for the rest of the year.

“Our sales and operating plans show that our capacity will be fully saturated for the rest of the year," Jean-Marc Chery said.

Chery noted that in the first quarter, ST's factory in Shenzhen, China lost two weeks of production due to the lockdown. However, he added that the group moved some production to other factories to help its microcontroller sales beat market expectations.

In addition, Chery emphasized that its chip orders are currently 30% to 40% higher than the group's production capacity, and its largest customers include Apple and Tesla.
