According to Nikkei Asia, Sumitomo Chemical announced on August 31 that in order to respond to the needs of the chip market, it plans to add ArF and EUV photoresist production lines at its Osaka plant in Japan to expand production. It is expected to start production in the first half of 2023.

At the same time, Dongwoo Fine-Chem, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical in Iksan, South Korea, will also build a photoresist production room for immersion ArF, which is expected to start production in the first half of 2024.

According to Sumitomo, by 2024, its overall ArF photoresist production capacity will increase by 1.5 times compared with 2019.
