ADI to close a factory in Milpitas, California

According to Boston Business Journal, Analog Devices disclosed to California employment officials in a new document that ADI will close its Milpitas factory and lay off 255 employees.

The factory was gained by ADI after acquiring Linear Technology in 2016. It is expected that the employees of the factory will be laid off between February 19 and October 29, 2021. The affected workers were notified on December 16 2020.

The report stated that it is unclear whether the closure of the facility is related to ADI's US$21 billion acquisition of Maxim Integrated.

The report point out that, ADI CFO said in July that the merger would create some redundancies in the selling, general and administrative expenses area, but that the overlap in engineering talent would"allow us to pivot to focus our engineers on a broader set of products."
