NAND Flash industry revenue increased by 8.3% in the first quarter

According to the latest report of DRAMeXchange, NAND Flash shipments in the first quarter of 2020 were flat compared with the previous quarter. However, due to the increase in average sales prices, the overall industry quarterly revenue increased by 8.3% to $13.6 billion

Since the fourth quarter of last year, data center demand has been on the rise. In addition, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the recovery of the server's supply chain is better than that of laptops and smartphones, so the demand for data centers is relatively less affected by the epidemic.

DRAMeXchange pointed out that the production of PC, laptops and mobile phone factories was affected by the interruption of the component supply chain and logistics chain, and began to resume production after March.

Looking forward to the second quarter, applications such as remote services continue to stimulate the demand for data centers, and work-from-home and distance education have also increased the purchase of desktops and laptops by companies and governments.

Therefore, DRAMeXchange pointed out that in the second quarter, NAND Flash market demand will continue to be dominated by tablets, laptops, desktops, and Enterprise SSDs. Due to the strong overall demand, NAND Flash contract prices will continue to rise due to continued market shortages.
