Murata Wuxi factory completed construction
Murata's new plant in Wuxi, China, was recently completed construction. It is reported that the plant is the core of Murata's new energy business, mainly producing new energy lithium batteries, which is expected to be officially put into production in January 2019.
As one of the important strategic deployments of Murata's new energy business, the plant can further expand Murata's supply of thin and light lithium battery products for smartphones and mobile terminals, mainly for cameras, tablets, notebooks, game consoles and other high-value added electronic devices and mobile electronics. According to reports, through the new plant, Murata plans to increase its annual production capacity to 132 million new energy lithium batteries.
Benefiting from the rapid growth of the smartphone market in the past few years, the shipments of the entire electronic components industry have increased dramatically. In the future, the proportion of smartphones in the entire market will gradually become smaller. Under this background, Murata will gradually expand its business from mobile communications to automotive, medical and new energy. After the acquisition of Sony's lithium battery business in 2016, Murata plans to operate the battery business as the core of its energy business to further realize its business growth and expansion, and prepare for the future entry into the new energy field.
It is reported that, Murata this year will further increase research and development, give full play to its technological advantages, and continuously enrich product categories. It will not only develop, manufacture and sell various electronic products that are used in mobile phones, computers, AV equipment and other market share, but also in automotive, health care, environmental protection and energy, Using unique ceramic technology, manufacturing technology, leading the industry innovation.
