VIS plans wafer price increase from April amid rising chip costs

March 16, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS), a specialty foundry focused on mature-node wafer manufacturing, has informed customers of a planned price increase for some wafer foundry services starting in April 2026, according to industry sources.

The adjustment comes as manufacturing costs across the semiconductor sector continue to rise. Prices for semiconductor equipment, raw materials and energy have remained high, while costs for precious metals, labor and logistics have also increased.

VIS has been expanding production capacity since 2025 to meet growing customer demand. The company said higher operating costs and ongoing investment in capacity have added pressure to its manufacturing expenses.

Local media previously reported that the company may raise prices for some products by around 15% starting in April. The move reflects broader cost pressures facing mature-node foundry suppliers.
