SMIC spends $1.1 billion on semiconductor equipment

SMIC announced the purchase of $1.1 billion in wafer manufacturing equipment from Applied Materials and Tokyo Electron Ltd.

According to the announcement, SMIC's order for Applied Materials was $543 million, while the order for Tokyo Electron was $551 million, totaling $1,094 million.

SMIC said the company is China's most advanced and largest integrated circuit manufacturer. In order to meet the needs of customers, SMIC will continue to expand its production capacity, seize market opportunities and growth.

According to SMIC's previous statement, it is planned that the monthly production capacity of 14nm will reach 4K in March this year, 9K in July, and 15K in December.
