Silicon Labs recently demonstrated at COMPUTEX 2018 how to use Dynamic Multiprotocol (DMP) technology to build Internet of Things (IoT) wireless connectivity solutions including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, and Z-Wave, and use In the smart home, smart lighting, smart meters and smart cities and other fields.

Chen Xiongji, senior market manager of Silicon Labs Asia-Pacific region, said that a single chip equipped with multiple wireless communication protocols can interact with different application fields to realize multiple applications of the Internet of Things. The application of mesh network and IoT technology is urgent. The system-on-chip (SoC) equipped with multiple wireless communication protocols can be interactively matched according to different application fields, allowing companies to flexibly allocate and build, realize multiple applications of the Internet of Things, and reduce the cost of development. However, Silicon Labs' multi-protocol single-chip solution can meet customization needs.

Silicon Labs acquires Sigma Designs' Z-Wave business unit in April, provides wireless home hardware and software portfolio for smart home market, including Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Thread, Bluetooth, and Proprietary Protocols, combining Z-Wave and Silicon Labs' IoT connectivity products feature Z-Wave mesh networking technology and interoperable product features that allow wireless technology integration.

Silicon Labs stated that Z-Wave has "simple, safe, and compatible" features, among which the compatibility part includes software building blocks, wireless modules, and certifications, such as advanced products. At the time of development must provide the above three important items. In addition, coupled with Silicon Labs' multi-protocol technology, this allows smart home product developers to have access to large, diverse ecosystem networks and end-node technology options, through the widespread deployment of mesh networking technologies. Give customers more potential business opportunities and strengthen their competitiveness in the smart home sector.
