Samsung Electro-Mechanics Wins KRW 1.07 Trillion AI Server MLCC Deal, Its Largest Ever

September 2, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Samsung Electro-Mechanics has signed a KRW 1.0722 trillion ($780 million) contract with a major global customer to supply multilayer ceramic capacitors for AI servers, marking the largest MLCC supply agreement in the company's history.

Under the agreement, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will supply the products for one year from January 1 through December 31, 2027. The customer was not disclosed due to confidentiality requirements.

MLCCs regulate and stabilize current in electronic circuits while helping prevent signal interference between components. AI server applications require higher-capacity and higher-reliability MLCCs capable of continuous operation under high-temperature and high-voltage conditions. Samsung Electro-Mechanics said AI servers use more than 10 times as many MLCCs as conventional servers.

Demand is rising rapidly as investment in AI data centers expands. Goldman Sachs expects the global AI server MLCC market to grow from $1.4 billion in 2025 to $5.8 billion in 2030, representing an average annual growth rate of about 34%. Samsung Electro-Mechanics currently holds more than 40% of the AI server MLCC market.

The company has signed long-term MLCC supply agreements with more than 10 global customers and is discussing additional contracts with several other companies.

Since May, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has secured a series of long-term contracts for silicon capacitors and AI server MLCCs worth approximately KRW 3.32 trillion in total. The company signed a separate KRW 1.5 trillion silicon capacitor supply agreement in May as it accelerates its shift toward higher-value components for AI infrastructure.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics said it plans to continue expanding supplies of high-reliability MLCCs for AI servers while increasing the share of AI-focused, high-value products in its portfolio.
