Maxim Integrated battery monitoring IC will be adopted by Nissan LEAF electric vehicle

Maxim Integrated announced that its single-chip ASIL D-class battery monitoring IC has been adopted by Nissan's latest next-generation electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF. The IC meets the highest safety standards and provides comprehensive diagnostics for reliable communication and significantly reduces the BOM cost.

Maxim Integrated's battery monitoring ICs support the highest safety standards and meet ISO 26262 and ASIL D requirements. The device's differential universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) uses capacitive isolation to reduce BOM cost and failure rate (FIT). The flexible UART supports reliable communication in noisy environments. At the same time, the battery monitoring IC enables fast, high-accuracy voltage measurement and high EMC performance. Maxim Integrated's battery monitoring ICs also offer comprehensive diagnostics to meet Bulk current injection (BCI) requirements to improve the safety and intelligence of future vehicles.
