August 25, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Infineon Technologies has announced the acquisition of Bangalore-based C2i Semiconductors, expanding its digital power management and system-level power delivery capabilities for AI data centers. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

C2i Semiconductors develops software-defined multiphase controllers, smart power stages and system-level power architectures, including technologies for vertical power delivery and Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators (SIVR).

The acquisition will combine C2i’s digital control expertise with Infineon’s silicon, silicon carbide and gallium nitride power semiconductor portfolio. The companies plan to develop intelligent power delivery architectures spanning the path from the power grid to AI processor cores.

Higher AI processor power density is creating faster and more dynamic load changes, requiring power systems to respond rapidly while maintaining conversion efficiency and system stability. Software-defined power solutions use digital control and software algorithms to adjust power conversion and voltage regulation in real time.

The transaction will also expand Infineon’s R&D capabilities in India, where the company currently employs approximately 2,800 people and plans to establish a digital power technology center of excellence.
