July 13, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Infineon Technologies has introduced the SECORA ID Key S USB, a Java Card-based security solution with USB and NFC connectivity for passwordless authentication, digital signatures and public key infrastructure applications.

Infineon said the SECORA ID Key S USB is the first solution to receive FIDO Level 3+ certification and is compliant with CTAP 2.1. The authenticator is designed to provide phishing-resistant passwordless authentication while protecting against remote software attacks and local hardware attacks.

The solution includes preloaded applets for FIDO authentication, qualified digital signature creation and PKI functions. It also allows customers to develop, migrate and deploy proprietary Java Card applets.

In addition to enterprise authentication and digital signatures, the platform can support physical access control, cryptocurrency wallets and software rights management.

The SECORA ID Key S USB is based on Infineon’s SLC38 crypto controller and runs a Java Card operating system compliant with Java Card 3.1 and GlobalPlatform v2.3.1.

The platform provides 250 kB of user non-volatile memory. An additional 64 kB is available if the ISO file system applet is removed, while 7,392 bytes of free user RAM are provided.

The solution supports cryptographic operations including secure key management, certificate processing, encrypted communication and digital signatures. USB and NFC connectivity also allow deployment in environments without integrated smart card readers and simplify integration with existing IT systems.

Maurizio Skerlj, senior vice president and product line manager for Authentication and Identity Solutions at Infineon, said demand for strong passwordless authentication is increasing across enterprise workplaces, government applications and financial institutions.

The SECORA ID Key S USB is offered as a system-in-package solution combining the security controller and USB bridge controller in a single package. The package measures 4 mm by 4 mm by 0.85 mm, helping reduce product size, bill of materials and logistics complexity for OEMs.

Infineon provides Java Card development tools and the Infineon Configurator to support custom applet development and personalization of the onboard Java Card operating system. The company also offers technical support, training and consulting services.

Infineon said it is working with ecosystem partners to develop additional authentication applications and expand the product’s interoperability.

Availability
Engineering samples of the SECORA ID Key S USB are available now, with volume production expected to begin in September 2026.
