July 9, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Global semiconductor sales reached $59.0 billion in May 2025, marking a 19.8% increase from $49.2 billion in May 2024 and a 3.5% rise from April 2025, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).

“Worldwide chip sales remained strong in May, slightly exceeding April’s total and significantly outpacing last year’s performance,” said John Neuffer, president and CEO of SIA. “Growth continues to be fueled by robust demand in the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions.”

Year-on-year, regional sales expanded across all major markets: the Americas saw a 45.2% surge, followed by Asia Pacific/All Other (30.5%), China (20.5%), Japan (4.5%), and Europe (4.1%). Month-on-month growth was led by Asia Pacific/All Other (6.0%), China (5.4%), and Europe (4.0%), while the Americas and Japan posted more modest increases of 0.5% and 0.2%, respectively.

The continued momentum reflects strong market demand for AI, HPC, and consumer electronics, and highlights shifting regional dynamics in global chip supply chains.
