March 19, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — AMD has achieved a record-high 45% market share in Japan’s GPU market, driven by the strong sales of its Radeon RX 9070 series. The company aims to further expand its share to 70%.

Reports indicate that AMD's RDNA 4-based RX 9070 series GPUs have seen robust global sales, with some regions experiencing supply shortages. The most significant market shift has occurred in Japan, where AMD’s share has neared 50% for the first time.

AMD and its board partners, including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, and Sapphire, recently held a roundtable discussion on GPU market trends. Yoshiaki Sato, head of AMD Japan, noted that the company had never seen such high sales volumes, highlighting that the current 45% market share is the highest in history.

While AMD aims for further expansion, GPU supply constraints remain a challenge. Meanwhile, NVIDIA retains the largest market share and may respond by increasing the availability of its RTX 50 series. However, given the strong performance of the RX 9070 series compared to the RTX 5070, AMD's market share growth appears promising.
