Cypress Semiconductor announced that its PSoC® 4 MCU has been integrated into the new LoRa SiP, ASR6501, designed by ASR Microelectronic. ASR Microelectronic is a semiconductor company directly invested by Alibaba Group. The new ASR6501 SiP is available in an ultra-small package with integrated Cypress PSoC 4100S Plus MCU and Semtech's LoRa transceiver. This system-in-package chip has digital and analog signal-aware capabilities that enable IoT developers to quickly bring long-distance, ultra-low-power products needed in smart cities, smart communities, smart factories, and smart agriculture to market.

Based on the Arm® Cortex® M0+, the Cypress PSoC Series MCUs are now used in a wide range of IoT applications. The family features a wide range of programmable analog and digital blocks that can be easily configured as custom analog front ends (AFEs), signal conditioning circuits with op amps and filters, or digital peripherals including I2C, UART and SPI. At the same time, the PSoC 4100S Plus features a CPU with up to 48 MHz, 128 KB of flash, 16 KB of SRAM and dozens of programmable analog and digital blocks. To date, the flexibility and integration of the PSoC architecture has been highly recognized in the market.

Alibaba Group Vice President and General Manager of Aliyun IoT, Ku Wei said: "Alibaba is working with partners to deploy low-power WAN in China, which will provide network support for billions of connected devices. Alibaba provides The fast-wired Link Wan platform and network-side solutions, our partner ASR Microelectronic offers a high performance, cost-effective LPWAN chip, and Cypress's PSoC MCU is an important part of the ASR6501 product."

Michael Hogan, senior vice president of the Internet, Computing, and Wireless business unit at Cypress, said: "We continue to take the lead in IoT devices and solutions, and the rapid growth of the Chinese market provides Cypress with tremendous opportunities. The cooperation with ASR Microelectronic strengthens our participation in the Alibaba ecosystem and promotes our flexible PSoC computing technology to better integrate into the growing Chinese Internet of Things market."
