Insider: Renesas to launch guaranteed supply program for more MCU orders

According to semiconductor industry insiders, Renesas plans to launch a guaranteed supply program in October to secure more MCU orders.

The insider pointed out that the program will guarantee delivery of a certain number of MCU orders within 12 weeks, however, the program does not include automotive MCUs.

The source also pointed out that inventory levels of consumer MCUs are now high. However, demand for automotive and industrial control MCUs has stabilized, driven by the electric vehicle (EV) and server industries.

The industry is closely watching the lead times for automotive MCUs. Supply is still tight right now, but not as tight as it was a year or half ago.
