UMC increases foundry prices for 300mm wafers

According to media reports, after the foundry service provider UMC raised the 200mm foundry price in November 2020, it has recently increased its 300mm foundry price.

Reports indicate that the demand for consumer electronics and computer-related applications continues to grow, and the proportion of chips for 5G smartphones and Internet of Things devices has also increased. UMC's capacity utilization rate in the fourth quarter of 2020 has reached 95%.

According to the report, global 200mm foundry capacity is in short supply, and foundry prices have risen at the end of last year, including UMC, VIS, and Powerchip have successively increased 200mm foundry prices.

The report pointed out that UMC has increased its 300mm foundry prices. UMC responded that at present, the price of new orders has been increased.
