Renesas cuts factory downtime to one week

According to Japanese media reports, Renesas Electronics' nine factories in Japan were originally scheduled to stop working for about one month during the summer holiday in August due to sluggish demand, however, due to the inventory adjustments exceeded expectations, Renesas considers reducing the above-mentioned downtime to approximately one week.

The factories that are considering downtime are six factories that are engaged in semiconductor front-end processes and three factories that are engaged in semiconductor back-end processes. The downtimes will vary, and some factories may not stop working. Most of the above factories were down for a few weeks in May.

According to industry insiders, this is the new marketing strategy of Hidetoshi Shibata, which aims to reverse the downturn in Renesas.
