SEMCO(Samsung) said on January 29 that the demand for low- and medium-end MLCCs is driven by the increase in shipments of new mobile phones. It is expected that this part of MLCC demand will rise again in the second quarter of this year, and the growth rate of automotive MLCCs may increase by 30% this year. .

At the same time, Samsung's management also said that compared to 4G mobile phones, 5G mobile phones will increase MLCC consumption by 20% annually; in industrial applications, server MLCC usage will also grow by 20%; automotive MLCC will increase 30% annually.

Samsung said that the low-end MLCC is expected to recover from the second quarter of this year. However, the biggest growth this year will be the automotive MLCC. Samsung stressed that the automotive MLCC has its unique product characteristics and strict certification procedures, so there are not many qualified suppliers. Under such a supply and demand structure, it is expected that the supply and demand will continue to be tense in 2019.

Samsung plans to expand its production MLCC in Tianjin, China. Since it has signed a long-term contract with customers, the proportion of MLCC used in automobiles this year is expected to rise to over 10%.
