Synaptics Incorporated announced the termination of discussions with Dialog Semiconductor on the possible acquisition by Dialog. Synaptics does not intend to make any other comments on the discussion currently.

According to insiders, Synaptics announced the termination of the merger was mainly due to dissatisfaction with the conditions of the acquisition, including the purchase price, which was the key to the breakdown of the negotiations.

In fact, Dialog was about to acquire Synaptics because its big customer, Apple, might develop its own power management chip. Dialog hopes to acquire Synaptics to increase its product diversity and reduce its reliance on a single customer. At present, Dialog has been affected by the reduction of Apple's orders. After the failure of the merger, Dialog may find another way to fill the product gap.
