December 19, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — TDK Corporation has announced the HVC27*MC series, a compact high-voltage DC contactor designed for safety-critical applications in electric mobility and industrial energy systems.
Key safety features for high-voltage DC applications
The HVC27*MC series integrates a mechanically linked, normally closed auxiliary contact compliant with IEC 60947-4-1, enabling reliable feedback of the main contact position. This function supports immediate detection of switching anomalies or contact failures in high-voltage DC environments.
Electrical ratings and system compatibility
Designed for DC systems up to 1,000 volts, the series is available with continuous current ratings of 300 A, 400 A and 500 A. It also supports single-shot current capability of up to 900 A at 1,000 V with a response time of less than 20 milliseconds. The main terminals are polarity-free, allowing bidirectional current flow.
To ensure safe disconnection under high-voltage DC conditions, the contactor features a hermetically sealed, gas-filled ceramic arc chamber. This design enhances arc control and operational safety during switching events.
The HVC27*MC series is offered with 12 V and 24 V coil voltage options and carries UL, CE and UKCA certifications for global deployment. The mechanical design meets demanding vibration and shock requirements, supporting use in commercial vehicles, industrial machinery and high-voltage electrification systems.
Typical applications include battery disconnect units, energy storage systems, DC fast charging equipment and uninterruptible power supplies, where compact size, reliable isolation and functional safety are required.
