November 4, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Kyocera AVX has introduced the new KGP Series commercial-grade stacked multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), engineered for high-frequency applications across industrial, alternative energy, and downhole oil and gas sectors. The series supports ongoing miniaturization and sustainability trends in electronic components.
The KGP Series delivers higher capacitance in the same mounting area as traditional capacitors, while being lead- and cadmium-free for compliance with environmental standards. The devices feature low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and inductance (ESL) to minimize noise and optimize performance, and metal lead frames that enhance thermal and mechanical stability.
Available in five EIA case sizes (1210, 1812, 1825, 2220, 2225) with two stack configurations and maximum thicknesses ranging from 3.40mm to 6.95mm, the series offers “J” or “L” leads. Three dielectrics are offered: C0G, X7R, and X7T. Rated voltages span 50V to 1,500V, capacitance from 10nF to 47µF (±10% or ±20% tolerance), and operating temperatures from -55°C to +125°C.
Applications include power supplies, DC/DC converters, control circuits, high voltage coupling, and DC blocking. C0G and X7R dielectrics are available across all case sizes with maximum capacitance up to 220nF and 47µF, respectively. X7T devices come in 1210, 1812, and 2220 sizes with voltages of 250V, 450V, and 630V, and capacitance up to 4.7µF.
All components are tested for visual characteristics, capacitance, dissipation factor, temperature coefficient, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, temperature cycling, steady-state and load humidity, high-temperature load, termination strength, bending, vibration, and soldering heat to ensure reliable performance in demanding high-frequency applications. Products are RoHS compliant and supplied on tape and reel in quantities of 500–1,500 for automated assembly.
Zack Kozawa, Director of MLCC Product Marketing at Kyocera AVX, said: “The new KGP Series expands our proven portfolio of capacitor solutions for demanding markets, including industrial power supply and downhole applications, while supporting miniaturization and sustainability trends.”
