October 31, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Samsung Electronics said its memory chip business posted record quarterly revenue in the third quarter, driven by robust demand from AI infrastructure and data centres.
The South Korean tech giant reported an operating profit of 12.2 trillion won (about US$9.2 billion) for July–September, up roughly 80% from a year earlier. Memory revenue climbed to 26.7 trillion won, compared with 22.3 trillion won in the same period last year.
Samsung said its latest high-bandwidth memory (HBM3E) chips are now shipping to major customers, joining rivals such as SK Hynix in supplying the 12-layer HBM products used by Nvidia. The company added that samples of its next-generation HBM4 chips are already being delivered, with mass production slated for next year.
The company expects continued AI investment to fuel demand for advanced memory and high-density SSD products. It said the memory segment will remain a key earnings driver, supported by a shift in data-centre architectures toward AI computing.
For semiconductor supply-chain players, demand is tilting toward high-value memory modules used in AI servers rather than traditional consumer devices. Tracking Samsung’s HBM4 ramp-up, DRAM and SSD pricing, and capacity plans will be critical over the next quarters.
Overall, Samsung’s solid third-quarter results highlight an accelerating shift in the memory market from consumer applications to AI-driven infrastructure, setting the tone for industry strategy in 2026.
