June 12, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new WSZ lead form option for its AC03-CS series axial cemented wirewound safety resistors, enabling compatibility with surface-mount processes to streamline assembly and reduce production costs in high-volume electronics manufacturing.

The Vishay Draloric AC03-CS series is widely adopted in power supplies for industrial drives, energy metering equipment, and automotive electronics. These resistors function as inrush current limiters, pre-charge, discharge, and snubber components—particularly effective when exposed to high DC voltages or accidental mains voltages of 120 VRMS / 240 VRMS.

The series is AEC-Q200 qualified, offering robust surge protection up to 4 kV (1.2/50 µs per IEC 61000‑4‑5), a 3 W power rating at 40 °C ambient, and a resistance range from 1 Ω to 100 Ω. Additional specifications include ±5% tolerance and a temperature coefficient of ±200 ppm/K. RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green-certified, the devices are equipped with tin-plated terminations compatible with both lead-free and leaded soldering techniques.

For enhanced safety under demanding conditions, the resistors operate across a wide temperature range from –40 °C to +200 °C. Their flame-retardant silicone cement coating (UL 94 V‑0) minimizes fire risk during extreme electrical overloads, potentially eliminating the need for series fuses.

Samples and production quantities of the AC03-CS series with the new WSZ lead configuration are currently available, with standard lead times of 12 weeks. For more information, please visit https://www.vishay.com/en/product/28909/.
