May 16, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has introduced a new automotive-grade addition to its D2TO35 thick film resistor family, featuring enhanced transient pulse handling up to 15 J / 0.1 s. Housed in a TO-263 (D2PAK) surface-mount package, the D2TO35H offers 35 W power dissipation at a case temperature of +25 °C.

The D2TO35H is designed to meet AEC-Q200 qualification, delivering 30% more energy absorption than previous models to withstand sudden pulse events and reduce failure risks in demanding applications. This performance improvement supports more compact designs, reduced component count, and improved overall reliability in automotive and industrial systems.

The resistor operates at temperatures up to +175 °C and offers a wide resistance range from 1 Ω to 14 kΩ with tolerances down to ±2%. It features a thermal resistance of 4.28 °C/W and a non-inductive design optimized for fast switching environments.

Target applications include active discharge, precharge, and standard discharge circuits in hybrid and electric vehicles (HEVs/EVs), battery management systems (BMS), fuel cell systems, 48 V board nets, and onboard chargers. The D2TO35H also suits energy metering systems, industrial motor drives, welding equipment, power tools, and military guidance systems.

The component is RoHS-compliant and qualified for reflow soldering at 270 °C for 10 seconds. Samples and production units are currently available, with standard lead times of 10 weeks.
