December 9, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) has released its latest global semiconductor market forecast, projecting robust growth in 2024 and 2025.

2024 growth outlook
WSTS has revised its 2024 forecast upward, expecting the semiconductor market to grow by 19.0% year-on-year, reaching $627 billion. This growth will be driven primarily by two key areas of integrated circuits:

  • Memory: Projected to grow by 81.0%.
  • Logic circuits: Expected to grow by 16.9%.

However, categories such as discrete devices, optoelectronics, sensors, and analog semiconductors are anticipated to experience declines.

Regional performance
The Americas and Asia-Pacific are expected to lead the market recovery with growth rates of 38.9% and 17.5%, respectively. In contrast:

  • Japan: Projected to see a modest growth of 1.4%.
  • Europe: Expected to face a decline of 6.7%.

Looking ahead to 2025
WSTS forecasts broad market growth in 2025, with a projected increase of 11.2% to $697 billion. This expansion will be primarily driven by memory and logic circuits, which are expected to account for over $400 billion in value. Memory is projected to grow by 13%, while logic circuits will grow by more than 17%.

Other semiconductor categories are expected to show moderate, single-digit growth, indicating a steady industry expansion. All regions are anticipated to continue their growth trajectory, with the Americas and Asia-Pacific maintaining double-digit year-on-year increases.
