November 1, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — Intel has announced a target to ship 100 million AI-enabled personal computers (PCs) by 2025, marking a 150% increase from its projected 40 million AI PC shipments in 2024. The company aims to meet this ambitious goal with its latest Meteor Lake, Lunar Lake, and Arrow Lake-S processors.

Intel's Head of Sales and Marketing, Jack Huang, stated on October 28 that around 80% to 85% of the AI PCs slated for 2025 will be ultra-thin laptops, the majority powered by Meteor Lake processors launched at the end of last year. Meteor Lake has seen widespread adoption, with shipments in 2024 projected to reach 20 million units, setting the stage for further expansion.

In addition to Meteor Lake, Intel will deploy its newly released Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake-S processors to boost AI PC performance. These processors, introduced in South Korea last week, include the Intel Core Ultra 200V series, optimized for ultra-thin laptops, and the Intel Core Ultra 200S series, designed for desktops.

Huang highlighted that the Ultra 200V series features a neural processing unit (NPU) with four times the performance of its predecessor, enabling faster AI applications. The Ultra 200S series, targeted at desktop users, offers improved gaming performance and energy efficiency.

Intel’s move reflects its strategy to accelerate the adoption of AI technology, positioning AI computing capabilities in mainstream PCs. As demand for AI applications continues to rise, Intel expects these high-performance, energy-efficient processors to drive a new wave of PC innovation and reinforce its position in the global PC market.
