October 28, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — TSMC has announced its 2025 foundry price adjustment plan, with rates for its 5nm, 4nm, and 3nm processes set to increase by about 4%, exceeding earlier estimates. The company also plans to raise prices for high-performance computing (HPC) products by 8% to 10% and adjust rates for mobile communication clients by approximately 6%. The announcement has garnered significant attention within the industry.

As a leading global semiconductor manufacturer, TSMC's pricing adjustments are expected to have a major impact across the sector. The higher-than-expected increases reflect the company’s efforts to manage rising operational costs, technological upgrades, and shifts in market demand, particularly within its advanced 5nm, 4nm, and 3nm segments, where TSMC maintains a strong market position but faces cost and technology challenges.

Demand for HPC products continues to grow, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. As a key player in this field, TSMC’s pricing adjustments aim to ensure profitability while addressing evolving market needs. In the competitive mobile communication sector, the company seeks to strengthen its market position and business growth through revised pricing.

The pricing strategy underscores TSMC's resolve to navigate market changes and cost pressures.
