GlobalWafers’ new Texas plant is expected to deliver 300mm wafers in Q4 2024

October 4, 2023 /SemiMedia/ -- GlobalWafers announced that its 12-inch silicon wafer plant in Sherman, Texas, USA is expected to deliver the first batch of 300 mm silicon wafers in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Sherman, Texas is also the location of GlobiTech, the US subsidiary of GlobalWafers. The new plant is part of GlobalWafers’ NT$100 billion expansion plan announced on February 6, 2022, and construction officially started at the end of 2022.

The new plant will be constructed in stages according to the number of customers' long-term contract needs, and equipment will also be gradually installed. After all projects are completed, the complete plant area will reach 3.2 million square feet, with a maximum production capacity of 1.2 million 12-inch silicon wafers per month.
