July 10, 2023 /SemiMedia/ -- According to reports, Littelfuse has reached a definitive agreement with Elmos Semiconductor to acquire its Dortmund fab in Germany for a net purchase price of 93 million euros.

Under the agreement, Littelfuse will acquire the Dortmund fab and its technical team of approximately 225 employees. All other activities, including test operations, will be the responsibility of Elmos.

With the acquisition of the Dortmund fab, Littelfuse strengthens its capabilities in power semiconductors for high-growth power conversion applications such as renewable energy, energy storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

"Today's agreement is a milestone for semiconductor production in Dortmund and will strengthen Germany's position as a high-tech country. As a fabless company, Elmos will make even greater use of advanced technologies to achieve breakthrough innovations in the field of mixed-signal semiconductors. Elmos has become a global market leader for certain applications in the automotive industry. We hope to use this strong position to shape our future growth," said Dr. Arne Schneider, CEO of Elmos Semiconductor.

Closing of the transaction is expected to take effect on December 31, 2024, subject to certain closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Elmos will retain full operational control of the fab until the transaction closes.
