According to South Korean media reports, Samsung Electro-Mechanics recently won a $435.7 million contract from Tesla to provide Tesla with a camera module for a car launched in November 2019.

The report pointed out that the deal is to provide cameras for Tesla's Cyber truck electric pickup. Cyber truck is equipped with more than 8 autonomous driving cameras, and the supplied cameras will provide the driver with a field of view in the rearview mirror.

In addition, the report also stated that Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to expand its automotive MLCC business and will mass-produce automotive MLCCs in Tianjin, China in the second half of the year. Once the Tianjin plant is put into production, the proportion of its automotive MLCC revenue will rise from 7.6% this year to 20.9% in 2024.
