According to reports, the passive component manufacturer Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. recently announced that the company's Echizen MLCC factory will be shut down from August 25 to 31 due to Covid-19 infection.

The report pointed out that the Murata Echizen factory found the first confirmed Covid-19 case on August 3, resulting in the temporary suspension of some production lines. The epidemic gradually got out of control in the next half month. As of August 24, a total of 98 cases have been confirmed, and the company has therefore decided to suspend operations.

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. stated that in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, approximately 7,000 employees, including third-party manufacturers, will be tested for Covid-19.

Murata said it planned to used existing stocks of capacitors and output from factories elsewhere to make up for lost production from the Echizen factory. As for the impact of the shutdown on supply, Murata said it is still investigating.
