According to a report from businesskorea, TSMC cancelled volume discounts for major customers for the first time in nearly a decade.

The report stated that TSMC has cancelled the policy of providing 3% discounts on each 300mm wafer to major customers. Industry insiders said that TSMC’s decision will have a negative impact on the profitability of customers such as Apple and AMD.

The report pointed out that some major fabless semiconductor companies are turning their attention to Samsung Electronics. Patrick Moorhead, the founder of Moor Insights & Strategy, a technology consulting company, said: "In addition to TSMC, we also need another chip foundry."
