The US Department of Commerce announced an emergency ban on Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Co. for violation of national security reasons.

The US Department of Commerce pointed out that Jinhua is about to complete a substantial increase in production, and its DRAM production will increase significantly, which will threaten the stability of US military supply of DRAM chips in the long run.

Jinhua is a DRAM maker. In December last year, Micron Technology Inc., the largest memory chip maker in US, sued Jinhua and UMC in California for stealing its trade secrets and Jinhua denied the allegations. The case is still pending in the California courts.

In January of this year, Jinhua and UMC sued Micron's products in China for infringement of their respective patents. The ruling issued in July led to the temporary ban of some products of Micron in China.

This is after the ZTE, the US Department of Commerce has once again imposed a ban on Chinese-funded enterprises.
